1. Read 10 books from the BBC’s The Big Read List
I am in the process of changing my list. A refocus. I have been partly influenced in the change by Harrell Fletcher, an artist who bases his work around the idea that we are all responsible for creating and shaping culture. He is interested in how everyday people create art and culture in their everyday lives. Part of this is exploring the nuances, the often overlooked things that no one pays attention to. Individual expressions of creativity including the books that people read. Harrell is also responsible for the Learning to Love You More project.
The first change to my list is:
1. Read 10 books from the BBC’s The Big Read to;
1. Read and review 10 books suggested by friends

The first person that I have asked to be involved in this is a work colleague of mine, Anne. Anne is an interesting woman and has recommended a book that I would not think to read, Stravinsky’s Lunch by Drusilla Modjeska. Anne has provided me with a review (below). I will update this post with my review of the book once I have finished it.
I really enjoyed this book which tells of the lives of two Australian artists. Grace Cossington Smith’s does not leave Australian shores and Sydney is the setting for most of her artwork. Stella Bowen departs Australia as a young adult and develops her artistic career in the UK and Europe. The title of the book is most interesting and when you discover its meaning, it is important to wonder what advances feminism has made since the 1930s. These two Australian artists are important figures in our art culture and it is hoped that they will receive the recognition they deserve in the years to come. Anne
2. Commence studying a graduate diploma
Commence studying a graduate diploma
I enrolled in the Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Sciences (Young People’s Mental Health) at Melbourne University this year. Unfortunately I had to defer first semester due to a period of incapacitation (see picture of my hospital bed below). I am going to commence studying in second semester this year. I am enjoying as much crap TV without having to feel guilty while I can.
The list – 101 things in 1001 days
here it is. my list.
it has taken me a few months to write this list. there are some things on it that i am still not sure about, scuba diving (n0 31) stands out. i want to scuba dive but am scared that i will die while doing it. there are others that i am excited about. (no 60) eating at 20 places out of the age good food guide, 2010. i cant wait. some on the list are long standing goals, (n0 35) climb a hill near mansfield. this is a hill that i have wanted to climb for years. it is a HUGE hill. to get to the hill i will have to walk through a big paddock with long grass. the hill is also privately owned. i am thinking winter might be a good time to undertake this challenge. i am scared of snakes.
